Ever since its launch, Windows Phone has faced criticism for lacking a broad app selection compared with its main mobile OS competitors. Microsoft is out to convince users otherwise, and in a rather cheeky move, has launched the Switch to Windows Phone app for Android. Available now on the Google Play store, the app takes note of all the software currently on your Android handset and sends those details to SkyDrive. Add that SkyDrive account on a WP8 device, and you'll be offered official WP8 apps which correspond to the ones found on your Android phone, or apps that match up best if official versions aren't available. Microsoft has also taken this opportunity to launch a new ad campaign (embedded after the break) pumping itself up as a sensible alternative to the Android / iOS battles, timed perfectly to arrive with this app. Assuming you have the requisite devices handy, hit the source links to install the software and let us know how good it is at finding a match.

The FCC's approval process can be incredibly secretive, since most companies prefer not to leak out any information that could give away the identity of their star products. Sony, on the other hand, is typically the most liberal when it comes to letting us in on the scoop, and its latest device is no exception. In this case, the T-Mobile version of theXperia Z was spotted with a full spread of external and internal photos along with a detailed user manual (which also gives away the model, carrier association and features such as WiFi calling). If you're still in denial for any odd reason, the docs confirm the inclusion of AWS LTE (band 4) and pentaband HSPA+. T-Mobile still hasn't confirmed that Sony's flagship is coming to its smartphone lineup, but we likely won't have to wait very long before we get an official announcement from theUncarrier. Head below to check out the docs for yourself; or, for the Cliff Notes version, we have a small gallery of images and screenshots below to get the point across.

Google has updated its Google Play content polices, forbidding developers to automatically update apps without doing so directly through its app store, according to Droid Life.
Android developers were previously able to offer consumers an automatic update feature, which meant the app would upgrade itself without authorisation each time, but Google now considers such a feature as a 'Dangerous Product'.
The policy alert, reads: "Google Play content policies have been updated. See "Content Policies" section, which clarifies that 'An app downloaded from Google Play may not modify, replace or update its own APK binary code using any method other than Google Play's update mechanism.'
"Google Play is a trusted source for Android application downloads, and we are committed to providing a secure and consistent experience."

Sony's mash-up Xperia, the SP, is taking its transparent element light show to the UK today, giving budget-minded Brits one stylish and feature-packed handset. The 4.6-inch 720p handset, which is basically a Best of... edition of the Xperia S and P with an aluminum unibody, is shipping now at T-Mobile UK for £250 outright (about $387 USD), whereas Orange and EE are offering up the device for free with qualifying plans. If you want LTE, however, you only have one carrier option and that's EE -- a choice that'll have you shackled for a two-year period. As for O2 and Three, those carriers still have the SP listed as "coming soon," but it's safe to say you won't find a better bargain than *free.
*Nothing in life is free.

Samsung's latest flagship, the GS4, landed on Sprint and AT&T a couple of days ago, and now it's T-Mobile's turn to join the party -- at least by way of its virtual stores. Taking advantage of the carrier's recently unveiled pricing scheme, the Galaxy S 4 will be available starting at $149.99 up front for the 16GB model (plus the $20 extra per month for the next two years, of course). Now, if you're looking to physically pick one up instead, you'll have to wait a little longer, as it won't be available at brick-and-mortar shops until May 1st.

If you've been waiting for the least burdensome tablet you could find, Sony's 17.5 ounce, 6.9mm thick Xperia Tablet Z is now up for pre-order in the US. On top of being the lightest, slimmest 10-inch slate on the market, it's not exactly slumming spec-wise either: there's a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, 2GB RAM, an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, NFC, LTE, S-Force virtual surround sound, 32GB storage and a 10.1-inch 1,920 x 1,200 display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 tech. To round it off, the tab is dust- and water-resistant, and Sony's pre-loaded its TV SideView app, which uses the built-in IR to let you change your TV's channel and get scheduling, recommendations, voice search and IMDB-like info. The downside? We noted that the ambitiously thin design made the device a bit bendy and creaky. You can pre-order at the source ($500 for the 32GB model and $600 for 64GB), or check the video after the break to see how a three-legged dog might use the slate while taking a bath. No, you didn't just misread that.

Microsoft's Xbox SmartGlass app has launched on Amazon's smash-hit Kindle tablet.
The app has been available on Windows Phone, iOS and Android for some time, but needed to be created specifically for Amazon's Fire tablet.
SmartGlass, which was unveiled at E3 last year, allows users to view their Xbox friends list, send messages, as well as use the tablet as a companion screen with Xbox games. The tablet can be used to simply obtain information about a game or movie, or as a supplementary controller.
The app is available on both Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD.

Nine games already available for the new smartphone.
Back at MWC in February, mobile games publisherChillingo announced a partnership with Samsung to offer developers a 100 per cent revenue share, while the founders went on to explain that the concept is designed to encourage a feeling of community among indie studios.
Now, furthering its commitment to populating the Samsung Apps platform, Chillingo says nine of its games are compatible for the Galaxy S4 at launch. Titles on offer include Catapult King and Parking Mania, while they're all optimised for the device's five-inch screen.
Ed Rumley, COO, Chillingo, said: "Chillingo is proud to have some of our most popular games available on the Samsung Galaxy S4 at launch. The device has stunning new features that pushes game development even further and we're working closely with our indie partners to bring more fantastic titles to the platform."

Samsung has today announced its latest tablet, the Galaxy Tab 3, a 7-inch tablet to compete with the likes of the iPad mini and the Nexus 7.
The Korean firm has shaved an inch off its Galaxy tablet in a bid to put the device in direct completion with the most popular 7-inch tablets currently on the market.
The Tab 3 has a 1.2GHz processor, 8GB or 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, and microSD slot for up to 64GB of additional storage.
The device has a WSVGA display with 1024x600 resolution. In comparison, the Nexus 7 has 1280x800 pixels. However the Tab 3 is slimmer than the Nexus 7, measuring just 9.9mm compared to 10.45mm for Google’s 7-inch tablet.
With a Li-ion 4,000 mAh battery, the Tab 3 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and has a 3MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front facing one.
A WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab 3 will be available globally at the beginning of May with a 3G version to follow in June.

Hash cluts rather than using the address

This makes it immensely faster in Final Fantasy Tactics, and fixes the
numerous graphical issues.

These aren't used that often, but this makes them a bit faster.
It also looks cleaner, imho.

In addition, change the encoding of ppsspp.rc to UCS-2/UTF-16 LE as it seems to be the only way to fix displaying of a certain non-ASCII character 'å' used in the version info of the compiled executable under cp1252-incompatible Windows locales.

First version of Sony PSP emulator for Android/Windows has been updated. Changes:
- A serious bug was fixed and suddenly a ton of vexing issues just dissappeared! For example, the 3D graphics being black in Persona 3 and the large graphics errors in the two main GTA games. Those are now very playable (on PC, a bit heavy for mobile)! Also, I found a major bug affecting Little Big Planet among others, fixing that as well. The UI now also has multi-language support, it's in Settings->System. All these fixes are enough to motivate a new official release, so here we go - 0.7.6!
