Amazon Appstore in-app purchasing goes live

Will be available to Kindle Fire and other Android devices.
Last week, we reported that Amazon was testing in-app payments. Now, the firm has confirmed the feature is now available for Amazon Appstore developers to integrate subscriptions and other premium functions to their designs.
The platform will give publishers the opportunity to monetise their apps, beyond the initial cost of a premium download price or in-app ads.
Amazon claims app users will be able to make one-click payments, while Disney, Glu Mobile, Gameloft, Storm8 and the New York Post have added the in-app purchasing API to their apps already.
Aaron Rubenson, director of Amazon Appstore, says: "Amazon Appstore’s In-App Purchasing service enables developers to generate more revenue from their apps.
"In-App Purchasing is simple to integrate and gives developers access to millions of Amazon customers who are already familiar with Amazon’s 1-Click payment system. Many of Amazon Appstore’s customers have shopped with Amazon before and they trust Amazon’s easy payment process, which leads to higher conversion of developers’ in-app content and subscriptions."
